Literature Text

The shrill rings of the third period school bell rang out into the air and through the halls of Sina High. Soon after, rowdy teenagers filed into the large corridor finding their way to the next class. Somewhere within the mass was [name]. Her classmates knew her as somewhat of a dreamer, she didn't pay much attention to the teachers(which didn't seem to fit her grades as she got perfect scores on tests and turned in all homework) but she always had a smile on her face and that warm smile could brighten anyone's day. Well, anyone but Jean Kirstein. He seemed to despise the girl in all her carefree glory.
Jean, for whatever reason, was aggravated that she was always so happy and in the clouds. He would tell his friends that she needed a serious ‘reality-check’ while mumbling incoherent insults about her ignorance. It was obvious however, to all except Jean, that this girl had a MASSIVE crush on him. It would take all but 2 minutes to see how head-over-heels she was for the boy, especially if you could see her notebook.
In said notebook, were nothing but sketches of Jean and his name in extravagant letters, sometimes with sparkles if it so fit her mood that day.
Somehow this bubbly, sky-high girl had managed to keep her mouth shut, to Jean at least, about her unexpected love for the male. His gloom and doom personality seemed to perfectly conflict her sugar and rainbows. Some(Sasha and Connie) even made theory that she was really made of candy and if you cut her she wouldn't bleed red, but honey or sparkles or some other ridiculous substance that would be physically impossible, yet seemed to make so much sense.
[Name] was in the middle of her fourth period daydreaming when she had the most amazing, most brilliant, most absolutely fool proof plan that it couldn't possibly backfire.
A secret admirer.
She would be his. Leave him notes and candies. Send him sweet messages and make him fall in love with this ‘secret admirer’ all at the same time.
Her plan was so seemingly perfect that she couldn't help the little outburst that bubbled in her stomach and up out her throat. Her a attempt to suppress this little sound was an utter failure as to [name]'s dismay she shout out in the middle of class.

"Yes! I've figured it out!"
The display did not go unnoticed to the teacher and he asked her what she had figured out in hopes that at least one of his students wasn't hopelessly lost in his complex math equation.

"Ummmm.. Er nothing, sir."
Her eyes flicked over to Jean's only to see him roll his eyes and groan. [Name]'s face burned red with embarrassment. Mikasa, who was sitting next to [name], tapped her shoulder.

"It's okay, just sit down."
She nodded and did as told, a blush still very evident on her cheeks.

After school [name] started on her ideas for sending him sweet notes. They had to be original but not too weird. Possibly classic ideas like little heart shaped notes with candies attached. She ended up with the idea of writing her thoughts on paper then folding them into paper airplanes.
"That's perfect!," she screeched out over the music playing in the background of her room. She promptly pulled out her 'Jean Journal', as she so affectionately named it, and started scribbling down her first note. It went a little something like this:
Jean,
Hello. I hope you don't mind but I happen to be your secret admirer. I really like you, though unfortunately I'm a bit too shy to tell you up-front. Please understand why I don't have the courage to tell you face-to-face. I've liked you for a while now and I wanted the opportunity to say how great I think you are. I love your personality and your honey sweet eyes. When you look at me it sends shivers down my spine. I'm absolutely and indefinitely without a doubt in love with you.
Your secret admirer

•~*~•

The next day before any classes had started [name] anxiously waited for the right time. She couldn’t send it when too many were around because there would be no guarantee he would get it, but also not with too little around that he would have any suspicions of her. Once the perfect chance came to [name]'s attention, the plan was set into action. She sent the piece of paper sailing straight into the back of Jean's head during their shared lunch hour.
The paper airplane was of course picked up by said male. He examined the exterior of the plane only to find perfect handwriting on the side with his name inscribed. Like any other curiosity took over and he opened the paper to find the note. [Name] was so intently watching him open the note that she didn't notice herself slowly leaning forward with anticipation. Only after her friend Christa tapped her shoulder did she notice how tense her body had gotten, all the way down to her curling her toes.
Jean on the other hand was extremely surprised by the note sent to him. He wouldn't say it out loud, but he was also quite excited by the message. Who could it be? The question just kept buzzing in his brain all day he didn't even complain about the extensive amount of homework passed out that day, which did strike Marco as odd seeing as Jean complained about almost everything, though he just chalked it up to Jean having a good day.

•~*~•

After school when everyone was sitting in the courts talking and working on the day's homework, [name] sat with her friends, gossiping about the events of the day. [Name] was subconsciously doodling in her notebook when Marco ‘happened’ to look over her shoulder and peek at all her, surprisingly talented, sketches of Jean. Marco’s eyes widened with realization. He had seen the note to Jean from the ‘mystery girl’ but much like him, Marco had no clue who it could be from. Well, that was until now.
Marco casually stood from the spot he was placed on the grass in between Annie and [name]. Stretching his legs out, he started to walk away.

“Where are you going, Marco?”
Even though it was only Sasha calling out to him, he felt a small amount of sweat form on his brow and the hairline on his neck.
“I was just gonna go look for Jean; I haven’t seen him in a while, wanna make sure he’s not getting himself in trouble.”
At the mention of Jean’s name [name]’s head perked up, but her focus gravitated back to her drawing once she noticed nothing significant was being said.

“Oh. Alright then. See ya.”

“Yeah, see you guys later. I’ll come back though."
And with that he was off, in search of his bestfriend in hopes of relaying this newfound information to him. After what felt like hours of searching for Jean, Marco found him in the northern gym of the school. Once he saw that copper mop of hair Marco felt all the tension he had pent up in his shoulders and back release. A quiet sigh escaped his lips as he made his way over to Jean.
"Jean! There you are!"

"Oh. Hey buddy. Where have you been?"

"Around. Guess what I just found out!"

Marco's eyes were sparkling with the chance to give Jean this information. He knew how excited Jean had been over this secret admirer. Jean wouldn't say it out loud, but it was obvious to the person that spent most of his time with Jean, and that person insidently being Marco. Marco leaned in closer to Jean so he could keep his voice quieter than usual.
"I found out who your secret admirer is."
Jean's eyes seemed to pop out of his head.
"WHO?! Is it Mikasa? Please say Mikasa."
Marco only shook his head at that last comment. A frown slowly crept onto his face.
"No Jean. It's [name]. She reallllllly likes you."

"WHAT! She likes me! You've gotta be kidding."

"Nope. 100% serious. She's MEGA into you."
Jean pulled the paper with her words out and inspected them again carefully.
"Wow. I never woulda guessed."

"This is so exciting! I mean, who knew you could get a cute girl, like [name]?"

Jean's brow furrowed in thought. It was true that [name] was quite beautiful and she seemed nice enough, but there was a slight nagging feeling in the back of his mind. His pride would be squashed if he asked her out. Sure, he was a shameless flirt, but he never asked any of them out. He simply wanted attention or if luck so had it's way, maybe one of them would fall for him. So far he had no such luck, but surely his efforts would pay off soon, right?
Well, in this case they had. He was just flirting with the wrong girls. [Name] was the one that had fallen head-over-heels for him and she made that quite obvious with the note and all.

"Alright. I'm gonna ask her out. I'll work on her space-case-y-ness later, but this is way too good of an offer to let her pass me by. Plus she's hot."

Jean winked at Marco with the last statement, which in response Marco immediately slapped his forehead into the palm of his hand.

•~*~•

Jean made an accomplished grunt. He had finally found the perfect way to ask her out. It took a couple days and lots of hard thinking, but his final plan was nothing short of genius. He would use [name]'s tactics on herself. He had made a paper airplane and written on the inside as well.
It was now Friday and the sun had just started to set, painting the early autumn sky a pale orange. It was still warm out and Jean's nerves were taking a toll on him. Ever since he found out that [name] had a crush on him he saw her in a totally different light. She was prettier to him. He even blushed when she looked his way earlier in the morning, the only other person that could make him blush was Mikasa and he hardly even noticed her anymore. It was like his mind was clouded with some strange, sweet fog that he never wanted to leave. [Name] had become his entire world. No one else could compare.
When Jean strolled up the the side of [name]'s house, he was relieved to see the window was wide open. They had lived in the same neighborhood for a couple years now. Same as Marco and Eren, every once in a while he would see Ymir and Christa in the park holding hands or whatever they were up to. Sometimes Marco would call out to [name] if he saw her window was open and ask if she wanted to hangout, that's how he knew which room was hers.
Once Jean was positioned outside of the window on the second floor he pulled the airplane out of his pocket. All he could do was cross his fingers and hope that it actually made it into the window and not hit the side of the house or go into some crazy place where he couldn't get it back. And to his relief it sailed straight into the window he was aiming for.

"Ouch! What the-"

Jean stifled a grin when he heard her voice her pain. He had never intended on hitting her with it but that just made this so much better, she had hit him first.
On [name]'s hand, the paper airplane hit her right in the side of the temple. She couldn't contain the small outburst, even thought it was more surprising than painful. Though once she noticed the thick black letters spelling out 'READ ME' she cut herself short and opened it immediately.

Look outside your window.
P.S. I think I just might love you back.

[Name] practically leapt out of her skin with delight. It was Jean. She raced over to the window and threw half her body through, nearly tumbling out. Jean was staring up at the girl curiously. How could she be so cute, yet so reckless? The klutzy-ness was strong in this one.

"So I was thinking dinner tonight?"

Jean winked up at her and sent her his million dollar smile. Her heart went up in a frenzy at the sight while her throat wouldn't allow her any of the word that came rushing to her brain. She only nodded and once she had moisture back into her throat she yelled back down to him.

"5 o'clock. Don't be late."

She shoved the window closed again before Jean even had the opportunity to respond. He only stood there staring at the window, bewildered for a good 2 minutes, giving [name] the chance to dash through her house and out the front door. She rounded the side of the house and launched herself into his arms. Jean was startled, but his build was enough to keep him on his feet. That was, until she planted a long, tender kiss straight into his lips. His knees buckled and his mind blanked sending them both to the ground.
She giggled at how cute his blush was and pecked both of his cheeks again. Nuzzling his neck, [name] felt his arms wrap around her waist.
"I love you."
